RTS Futures: Before They Were On Screen

Jake joined a panel of fellow broadcasters imparting their advice on careers in TV at the Royal Television Society Futures' latest event, hosted by producer, writer and Channel 4’s You Are What You Eat presenter Anna Richardson.

The room was a whirr of career-focussed cogs and touch-screen tapping as Jake and his co-panellists (Embarrassing Bodies’ Dr Dawn Harper and BBC presenter and news anchor Kate Silverton) chatted openly about the highs and lows of building a career in the industry.

Having started out as a TV runner in Norwich, Jake recalled how he was discovered by the BBC's Paul Smith, and began his on-screen career at the Corporation’s new children’s channel CBBC in 2002.

"It's competitive, but someone has to do it..." he tweeted as he summed up his advice for the budding broadcasters the following morning.
