Jake lights up Norwich for Christmas
Lights, camera, ALAN! Christmas came early this year as Jake switched on the lights in his Norwich hometown.
Joined on stage by his little niece and nephew Tilly and Joseph, Jake activated a dazzling display of fireworks from the rooftops of the Jarrold store and City Hall.
A huge cheer erupted from the crowd – who had been braving the cold to follow Father Christmas and his magical sleigh through the Norwich streets for the grand finale.
The lights are based around a star motif and run through the city’s streets from Timberhill, along Castle Street, London Street, Gentlemans Walk, Gaol Hill and up to Lower Goat Lane. Other entertainments on the night included Christmas music, dancing elves, frolicking fairies and even some seasonal snow.
I’m Alan Partridge star Simon Greenall then switched on the lights of a very special second display - dedicated to the man himself and featuring green lazers shooting from his eyes in time to Roachford’s Cuddly Toy – naturally!
He also read a message from Mr Partridge, who could not attend due to a pub quiz night: “To the people of Norwich, and to a lesser extent anyone here from Suffolk, I am genuinely gutted not to be here tonight, but it is quiz night at the Rose and Crown and I am the designated driver.”
